Instant Pot Khao Suey/ Khow Suey

This DIY meal kit for the one pot soup comes from Burma and finds instant appeal with its amazing blend of curry powder and coconut milk poured over a bed of noodles and savoured with a large variety of garnishes including fried onion and garlic, crushed peanuts, spring onions, coriander and a dash of lemon.

What we send: 1 Khao Suey Broth
2 Coconut milk powder + water (180ml) 3 Boiled noodles 4 Fried onion 5 Crushed peanuts 6 Fried noodles 7 Fried garlic

What you Need: 1 Lemon wedges 2 Chopped coriander (optional) 3 Chopped spring onion (optional) 4 Salt to taste


  1. Heat oil (1) in a pan. Add chopped garlic (2) and sautefor one minute.
  2. Add diced vegetables (3) and cook for one minute. Add the Khao Suey paste (4) and saute for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add roasted gram flour (5) and cook for one minute while stirring continously. Add 300 ml (1.5 cup) of water and bring to a boil.
  4. Mix the coconut milk powder (6) with a little more than one cup (250 ml) of water. Add coconut milk , stir and let it boil.
  5. Lower the flame and add sauce blend (7), mix well and remove from flame.
  6. In two serving bowls, put the boiled noodles (8) and pour hot soup over it. Garnish with fried onion (9), spring onion (10), crushed peanuts (11), coriander leaves (12), fried noodles (13) and fried garlic (14). Squeeze lemon wedges (15), mix well and serve hot.
